How does the customization process work?Updated 2 hours ago

For municipal water

Most consumers will receive a filter customized to their shipping address. Here's how it works.

1. You submit your order, and our system notes your shipping address.

2. A member of our team reviews your address. They research local, county, state, federal, and academic data sources, including EPA notices and government records, to determine the contaminants in your water.

3. Your filtration media are selected. The results from step #2 will determine the exact ratio of active media you'll receive.

4. Your customized filter is built and shipped out.

Curious about the contaminants in your water? We encourage you to contact our support team at [email protected] for specifics about your contaminants of most concern. We're happy to discuss your customized blend of media before or after purchase. We can also share the data we use to customize your filter on request.

For well water

For consumers relying on a private source for water, such as a well, the process differs slightly. Here's what to expect.

1. You submit your order and mention that you use well water in the NOTES section. This is a very important step! Without this note, we may incorrectly formulate your filter.

2. Our system flags the note about well water.

3. A member of our team begins reviewing groundwater data based on your shipping address. They review the U.S. Geological Survey; nearby municipalities that use groundwater as their source; academic literature; and state source water assessment programs. This research helps our team pinpoint susceptibilities in your groundwater and determine the contaminants in your well water.

4. Your filtration media are selected. The results from step #3 will determine the exact ratio of active media you'll receive.

5. Your customized filter is built and shipped out.

Additionally, if you have information about the contaminants in your area's groundwater, we encourage you to share those resources. We'll take them into consideration during the formulation process.
